| Users review: Let me start by saying that I am a fan of Alfred Hitchcock. This film, in my opinion, is his best work. But I think Hitchcock owes much of his success to his long-term partner Bernard Herman, who scored the music for many of his films, including this one. Anthony Perkins is Norman Bates filled the shoes perfectly. He does not exaggerate and not underact. Janet Leigh was not the best person to show Marion, but she played the role quite adequetly. However, as I Vera Miles best in this picture. Hitchcock had in mind for the role after she had to stop working on his latest film Vertigo. It was probably a key role here, since it was he who discovered Norman terrible secret. Actor Tony Award-winning Martin basalt was superb in his brief appearance as a detective trying to track down Marion. John Gavin was okay, but nothing to brag about. Hitchcock made a wise decision to shoot the movie in black and white, and made history when he insisted that no one can understand the theater after the film began in order to cause confusion. This is the most brilliant film I've ever seen, and I give it 5 stars (out of 5). |
