| Users review: He had a chance to look at its world premiere in Toronto this evening, where we were joined not only by the stars, but also to Patti Lomax, the real wife of Eric Lomax, on which this film is based on the autobiography. The story is unique and interesting, and informed by a series of flashbacks to Eric Lomax, our protagonist (the sea), the experience of WW2. If the film is set in a location that is quite bleak (prison and apartments in green), not something that is visually appealing to watch, and edit / pacing leaves a bit to be desired - at some point, we see today Eric Lomax (sea) suddenly brought back to POW camps in Asia without any clue us apart as he traveled there (single bird shot wouldve done) or, in one case at least, is Hallucinating. However, a good story and acting on the sea with the help of Nicole Kidman as his wife - even though the real kidnappers show is Jeremy Irvine as a young Lomax and Hiroyuki Sanada as Nagase, Japan and Lomaxs translator tormentor. |
