Users review: White House Down (2013) 1/2 (out of 4) To quote Roger Ebert, I hated, hated, hated this movie. Roland Emmerich latest disaster is about a cop (Channing Tatum) who takes his daughter on a tour of the White House, where terrorists take over and try to take the President (Jamie Foxx) hostage. Now the police, the daughter can not really support must try to save the day and impress your favorite president. To begin, go see OLYMPUS dropped because it is a much better movie action is on the same subject. Sorry, but if you did Emmerich film in the 70s they'd be lucky to play in a third bill drive-in before sunrise. I really can not wrap my brain around how anyone can make such bad movies, one after the other. Do purposely? Surely he did not make this movie as bad as it is without doing it on purpose. Everything from the story that works for CGI effects are simply very poor, and this style Emmerich is behind him. I mean, we really should find this movie touching and patriotic? Foxx character is clearly inspired by Obama, but it would be a tribute, they failed to appear as embarrassing really. Even worse are the bits of comedy that includes some of the worst jokes you've never heard. Worse yet dreadful action scenes with some of the worst effects of the actions that are looking CGI, as you will see in this next production SyFy. So you have an incredibly horrible subplot dealing with the police teenage daughter who is a complete brat, but try to reach out as a kind of patriotic hero. In spite of this little story is just a complete shame and made me cringe while watching it. I'm thinking of calling the actress but was only a bad position that the director put in the middle and its almost as bad as Jaden Smith after Earth. Let us pray that the two never unites them. Both Tatum and Foxx are clearly just collecting paychecks and great character actors like James Woods, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Allen Jenkins just lost in worthless paper. There are some moments here that are so incredibly bad that I could not laugh at them, but unfortunately the film takes too long to enjoy it as a simple film, terrible movies with laughter.
